Watch Japanese TV Online

I’m old fashioned. I prefer to rent my Japanese TV shows from the local video store. But there are times when it’s just easier to access a quick episode online. And since a lot of people don’t have access to Japanese rental shops, I’ve decided to put together a quick resource guide.
- Pandora.tv – I’ve been told that this site hosts a lot of full length episodes. I’ve only used it on a few occasions but it looks promising.
- Hulu – Gaki no Tsukai and Denpa Shonen are available. That’s really weird of Hulu but I welcome the new additions. Let’s hope that this is only the beginning.
- Newgroups – You can find Japanese variety and drama video files by going to the newsgroup: alt.binaries.multimedia.japanese. Selection can be a bit sparse but it’s possible to find a gem every now and then.
- BitTorrent – D-Addicts has a nice selection of torrents. I haven’t used it myself but if you prefer high quality, full length episodes then this is probably the place to go. As a word of warning, understand that with the BitTorrent protocol, other people can see your IP address. In terms of BitTorrent clients for Macs, I recommend using Transmission.
Have any Japanese TV sites and resources that you’d like to share?
